
Owner of J.T. Messina Trucking&Construction Co., Joseph died at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at his son's residence in Pride. He was 75, a native of Bayou Goula and a resident of Pride. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Nov. 11, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 9 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Vic Messina. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Thibodeaux and husband Ron, and Milissa Alston; two sons, Greg Messina and wife Maxine, and Joey Messina; four sisters, Jennie Medine, Marie Carusso, Lena Mae Amie and Virginia Granier; brother, Anthony Messina; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Doris Sanchez Messina; parents, Phillip and Mary Roppolo Messina; brothers, P.C. and Sammy Messina; sister, Olivia Young; and daughter-in-law, Janise Messina. Pallbearers will be Micah Messina, Trey and Travis Hoag, Joseph Talbot, Zach Thibodeaux and Jacob LeFebvre. He loved to go to the casino. He only had a fourth-grade education, but made a good living by working hard every day. Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or The American Heart Association.
