

Joseph Edward “Ed” Price, age 88, died on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge following a brief illness.Born and raised in Baywood, Louisiana, Ed Price was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge where he built a successful business, Ed Price Building Materials, Inc. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army and was active in a number of civic organizations, including the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Flotilla, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Police. He was on the Board of Directors of Livingston State Bank and a longtime member of the Louisiana Homebuilders Association.An outgoing, caring man who cherished his family, he cultivated friendships with many throughout Baton Rouge and beyond. He had a variety of interests apart from his business and spent time hunting, cattle ranching and farming. In later years, many friends were welcomed on his deep sea fishing trips in the Gulf. A man who had many successes in business, he never met a stranger and leaves behind many friends.Ed Price is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel Scivicque Price and their four children and spouses, Peggy and Ron Jervey, Sarah and Bryant Thibodeaux, Jim and Judy Price and Ronnie Price; grandchildren Ashley Brashear, Joey Price, Jennifer Radley, Todd Price, Justin Price, James Price, Jr. Brittany White, Haleigh Wingate and Chase Thibodeaux; 17 great-grandchildren; his daughter Sylvia Twigg and family; sisters Clara Duncan, Margaret Heck, Daisy Hoffman, Dot Russell and Lena Dearman; half-sisters and brothers Virginia and Carol Mae Hicks and Charlie, Louie and Clarence Price. He was preceded in death by his parents James M. Price and Sarah Ida Price; grandson Joshua Price; sisters and brothers Willie Mae Baker, Marveleen Cheek, W. C., Willard and Herbert Price and half-brother Larry Price and half-sister Tressie Stiles.Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 beginning at 11 until service at 2 officiated by Pastor Hank Henagan.Pallbearers will be Joey, Justin and Todd Price, Chase Thibodeaux, Wayne Radley, Chris Brashear and Michael Daniel. Honorary pallbearers include J.J. Berthelot, James Price, Jr., Walter Krousel, Jr., Simmitt Bankston, Geno Guercio, Charlie Ceruti, Mike Quinn, Gov. Edwin Edwards and John Chiniche.
