

Graham, Joy JohnsonJoy passed away at home on Sunday morning, September 13, 2015 at the age of 83. In her unselfish manner, she willed her body to science through Tulane University. Joy was an artistic individual who loved writing, decorating, entertaining, fresh flowers and gardening. She loved preparing for the family get together every holiday for her extended family. Joy possessed the proverbial "green thumb" and there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time in her yard filling every inch of space with beautiful blooming plants and greenery. Joy worked over 40 years as an executive secretary for many companies including Kaiser Aluminum, Capitol House Hotel in Baton Rouge, Jack Tar Capitol House in Destin, Florida, All American Insurance and retired from Ethyl Corp. Joy is survived by a son, Steven C. Graham, his wife Heather Hudson Graham, and their daughter, Hudson Joy Graham; a very close niece, Jackie Meisner Comeaux and her husband Darrel of Port Allen, a niece Gwen Young of Prairieville, and nephews Chris L. Meisner and his wife Bertha, of Baton Rouge and Terry G. Young of Plainview, Texas. She is also survived by grandnieces, Natalie Joy Comeaux of Brusly and her daughter Brenlee Joy Allen, Christy M. Doramus and her husband Luke of New York City, Bridget High of Baton Rouge and Dr. Kerry Young of Dallas. Grandnephews include Christopher Comeaux of New Orleans, Jordan Meisner of Pineville and Marty High of Baton Rouge. She loved animals and enjoyed feeding the abundance of cardinals, doves and squirrels in her backyard. Joy also leaves behind her constant canine companion, T-Boo, longtime friend Margery Fabre, and close friend Jerry Aertker. Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Clark G. "Jiggs" Graham, two brothers and four sisters. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bahij Khuri, Dr. Theodore Knatt, Nancy of Caring Angels, and Cindy Messina, for their compassion and understanding. Joy truly lived up to her given name. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Cancer Society. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 4 pm until Memorial Services at 6 pm conducted by Rev. Charles Tademy, pastor of St. Peter Baptist Church.
