Joyce Gail Jones Barnett

Surrounded by family and loved ones, she was called to to the loving arms of our Lord on December 8, 2013 at The Carpenter House. She was 81, a native of Liberty, Mississippi and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the religious service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by her husband, Elwyn E. Barnett, Jr., "the love of her life" who she married on January 9, 1954(60 years married); 3 sons, Elwyn W. Barnettr (Wyn) and wife Vicki Barnett, Robert S. Barnett (Scott) and wife Elizabeth Barnett and Randolph B. Barnett (Randy) and wife Stacy Barnett; Grandchildren, Brittany Barnett, Sheryl Barnett, JohnMark Barnett, Nathan Barnett and wife Rose, Mary DeLaTorre and husband Nelson, Adam J. Hebert and wife Christina, Geoffery S. Hebert and wife Teresa, Natasha Nations, Misty Nations and Brandon Nations; great-grandchildren, Madeline Kirschner, Julia Kirschner, Jacquelyn Isabella Nelson, Peter Nelson, Isabella Hebert, Wyatt Hebert, Knox Hebert, Nathaniel Barnett, Josue Ordaz, Jr., Carson DeLaTorre and Camila DeLaTorre. She is also survived her two best friends in the world, her sister-in-law Carol Barnett and Shirley Sharkey Miller. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd W. Jones, her mother, Lena W. Jones and her sister, Cynthia Dianne (Jones) McClean. Active Pallbearers will be Ronald Barnett, Brent Barnett, Ronald Daigle, Nathan Barnett, Kenner Miller and JohnMark Barnett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Brown Tommy Galey and Gregg Daigle. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School, attended L.S.U., loved cooking, L.S.U football and baseball and her New Orleans Saints and loved her son's musical interests and hobbies. The family thanks the wonderful people at St. Joseph's Carpenter House for the wonderful care given to Joyce.
