Joyce Jagneaux Dies, age 92, a resident of Livingston, Louisiana, passed away on September 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Joyce was born on March 4, 1934, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Julien and Lillian Jagneaux. Throughout her 92 years, she built a life centered around the things that mattered most to her—her family and her faith. A devout Catholic, her faith was an important part of who she was, and she especially cherished attending her Rosary group, where she found fellowship, prayer, and comfort.
Joyce was a true Cajun woman to her core—strong-willed and fiercely loving. She had an enormous love for her family, and there was very little she would not do for the people she called her own. Her family was at the heart of her life, and the generations that followed her were among her greatest blessings.
Maw Maw also knew how to enjoy the simple things in life. She could often be found watching the Game Show Network or Channel 9, enjoying some cookies, or looking forward to a good home-cooked meal. She appreciated good Cajun cooking—especially a good grease gravy—and she loved her butter beans. These seemingly small things became part of what made Maw Maw uniquely Maw Maw, and they will forever bring a smile to the faces of those who loved her.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter J. Dies; her parents, Julien and Lillian Jagneaux; her daughters, Diane Roberts and Patricia Dies; her son-in-law, Ray Roberts; her sister, Rosa Daigle; her brother, Joseph Jagneaux; her grandson, Scotty Smith; and her great-great-grandchild, Cason Metrejean.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Patrick Smith and wife Melissa, Jason Smith, Christopher Smith, Chasity Ammon, Jennifer Johnson, John Roberts and wife Crystal, Susan Pate and husband Rodney, Kim Nunnally as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
To those who loved her most, however, she was more than Joyce—she was simply Maw Maw. For 92 years, her life touched generation after generation. She leaves behind memories, stories, traditions, laughter, faith, and a love that will continue to live through her family. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her family finds comfort in knowing that the Catholic faith she held so dearly throughout her life carried her home and reunited her with the loved ones who went before her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Pinnacle Hospice, with special thanks to Samantha Wheat, Chantel Denicola, and Detrella Dixon, for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care they provided and shared with Maw Maw and her family during her final days.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on September 11, 2026 from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 pm and burial at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Patrick Smith, Jason Smith, John Roberts, Travis Roberts, Lenny Simpson, and Chris Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Jagneaux and Randy Daigle.
Joyce Jagneaux Dies will be deeply missed by all of her family and loved ones, lovingly remembered, and forever held in their hearts. Her family will remember her faith, her strength, and above all, the fierce love she had for her family.
May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
