

Judith Gwen Armoney, 76, of Baton Rouge, LA gained her heavenly wings on January 13th surrounded by her family at her home in Denham Springs, LA. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all she met, Judith, or “Judy”, will always be remembered for her kindness and willingness to help others.
Born on June 12, 1948, in Baton Rouge, LA to George Armoney and Martha Emmert Armoney, Judy, was an only child. She grew up with a host of cousins that she considered siblings. Judy was a graduate of Istrouma Highschool where she was head cheerleader. She was crowned Miss Baton Rouge Boat Queen and spent much of her youth at Baton Rouge Beauty College that was owned by her father and stepmother Marie Armoney. She attended SLU for a brief time and then went to work for the state of LA Department of Labor where she later retired as a field auditor, holding more accounts than anyone in the state. Judy enjoyed her retirement traveling the world, spending time with family and her Pokeno ladies that she dearly loved. She enjoyed fishing, listening to live music and karaoke as well.
Judy is survived by her husband Robert Cooke with whom she entered a spiritual union. Her daughters, Dari Beard Sonnier, Jackie Mayhew (Marlon Coates Sr.), Angie Mayhew and her Godchild Amanda Lapeze. Her Grandchildren Brandon Gautreaux, Cooper Bostwick, Barrett and Conner Sonnier. Her great grandchildren Drayton and Levi Gautreaux. Her Stepdaughter, Katina Thibodaux, that was also her caretaker. Her Step-Grandchildren, Passion Knight, Jassamine Paige, Marlon Coates Jr., Meiki Williams, Tamiracle Jones, Reese and Allie Landry and Jace Joseph. And her Step-Great Grandchildren Deandre Paige and Legend Knight. She was preceded in death by her parents and a Step-Grandchild, Chloe Landry.
A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held Saturday, January 18th at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Baton Rouge. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 directly followed by Catholic mass at 11:30-12:30 then procession to Greenoaks Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest.
