Judy was born on November 1, 1944, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the late Clarence Shook and Marjorie Knapp George.
She spent many years working in the service industry, where she made friends everywhere she went. Judy was funny, quick-witted, a wonderful storyteller, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought. She could bring comic relief to almost any situation and, in true Judy fashion, never took much nonsense from anyone.
She loved animals deeply, especially her Corgis, and opened her heart and home to dogs in need through rescue. She also loved her horse and cherished the time she spent with her.
Judy never lost her sense of fun. At 80 years old, she went to see Jelly Roll in concert in Lafayette and even managed to get a hug from him — a perfect example of the memorable moments that seemed to find her.
Above all else, Judy loved her family. Her sons, Troy Donaldson and George Donaldson, were her whole heart. She carried with her always the memory of her beloved son, Gevin Donaldson, who preceded her in death in 2008.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Judy was endlessly proud of them and rarely missed a game, performance, celebration, or important milestone. She showed up, cheered loudly, bragged often, and took tremendous joy in watching them grow.
She is survived by her sons, Troy Donaldson and George Donaldson; her stepsons, Danny Rivet and Donny Rivet; her grandchildren, Chase, Abbie, George III, Saylor, and Britany; her great-grandchildren, Amelia G., Tyler, Carson, Amelia M., Lilian, and Penelope; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gevin Donaldson; and her stepson, David Rivet.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Friends and loved ones are also invited to join the family for a Celebration of Life on what would have been Judy’s 82nd birthday, Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at 8902 Rockway Drive, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70817.
Judy leaves behind countless stories, plenty of laughter, and a family who will miss her dearly. Those fortunate enough to know her will undoubtedly have a Judy story of their own.
