

Juliette “Julie” Ann Mire Decoteau, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away at The Claiborne at Shoe Creek on Monday, December 13, 2021, at the age of 88 from Alzheimer’s disease. She attended Baton Rouge Senior High where she was a member of Boosters, Future Homemakers, and the D.E. Club. After graduating in 1951, she was employed at the Department of Public Welfare State Office until the birth of her first child. Julie, a devout Catholic, enjoyed volunteering at St. Isidore and was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society. Julie will be remembered as a kind, generous, and strong woman by her family and friends. Throughout her life, she persevered and provided nurturing care to everyone. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Spellman “Pat” Decoteau; five children, Karen Lambert (William), Sharon Gonzales, Diane Decoteau, Steve Decoteau, and Donna LeBlanc (Joey); five grandchildren, Michelle Jeansonne (Kyle), Patrick Hawkes (Mary Jean), Ryan LeBlanc, Lauren Lambert, Kevin LeBlanc; and four great-grandchildren, Collin Jeansonne, Cameron Jeansonne, John Parker Hawkes, and Molly Grace Hawkes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Emmett Mire, Sr. and Josephine Celine Marie Serre Mire; siblings, Amelie Ash, Joseph Emmett Mire, Jr., Celine LeDoux, Harold Mire, and Joseph Ralph Mire; and granddaughter, Christy Gonzales. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, December 16 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Visitation to resume on Friday, December 17 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 5657 Thomas Rd., Baton Rouge, LA at 12:30 pm until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 pm. Burial immediately following at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
