
Julius Devall was 93, a native and resident of Central, and a U.S. veteran of World War II, having received a Purple Heart. He came from a family of 11 children: 10 boys and one girl. He was among a total of six brothers serving in World War II at the same time. Julius died at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at his home. He graduated from Central High School in 1935 and retired from Exxon, now ExxonMobil. He was a faithful member of Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Sept. 8, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Eli "Skip" Noble Jr. and Dr. Dennis E. Terry Sr. Interment in the church cemetery. Julius is survived by his son, James Douglas Devall, and his son's wife, Barbara Lilly Devall; brothers, Floyd, Arthur and Melvin Devall; three grandchildren, Kelli Spangler and her husband, Michael, Rusty Devall and his wife, Shannon, Len Devall and his wife, Lori; and five great-grandchildren, Justin and Sarah Spangler, Carley Devall, Madison Devall and Joel Fisk. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Aline Harrell Devall; parents, Frank S. and Hattie Dougherty Devall; brothers, Vernon, Clifford, Eugene, Stanley, Virgil and L.E. Devall; and sister, Myrtle Browning. Pallbearers will be Jay Devall, Harold Monk, Glenn Henson, Guy Jenkins, Joel Fisk and Justin Spangler. The family wishes to say a special thanks to the St. Joseph Hospice Foundation and the caregivers. Memorial donations may be made to Greenwell Springs Baptist Church.
