

Karl Erich KrouselThose who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.Isaiah 57:2. Karl found rest and peace on January 29, 2016. After a life filled with powerful enthusiasm, deep friendships, and passionate pursuits, Karl stepped into the presence of Jesus and his son, Kohl. Karl was born December 28, 1962 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Walter R. Krousel, Jr. and Hilda Sanchez Krousel. He graduated in 1981 from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, where he was the City Wresting Champion. Karl obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in 1986 and graduated from LSU's Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1989. He began his law career as a clerk to the Honorable Joseph S. Keogh Sr. and practiced law for 27 years in Baton Rouge. Karl was an accomplished attorney who started his own successful law firm and who was well loved by his clients. His professionalism was highly respected by the Baton Rouge Bar Association. He was recently honored by their invitation to record a video on professionalism and ethics. Karl was also an avid champion for the underprivileged as indicated by his recent volunteer work in Haiti following the destructive 2010 hurricane season as well as his continued support of the Gardere Community Christian School. A charismatic, fun-loving, intelligent, athletically gifted, and fiercely devoted friend and family member, Karl loved to hunt and fish and pursue all sorts of outdoor activities. Karl was preceded in death by his son, Kohl Richard Krousel. Karl is survived by his parents, Hilda and Walter R. Krousel, Jr.; his son, Karl Erich Krousel, Jr. and his wife Jessica Payne Krousel; his son Jake Alexander Krousel; his daughter, Allie Katelyn Krousel; his grandchildren, Landon Krousel and Soryn Krousel; his sisters, Marlene M. Krousel, Dr. Marie Antoinette Krousel-Wood, and Elizabeth Krousel Simmons, and his brother, Walter R. Krousel, III. Karl had been married to Lori Thompson Hinton and later to Tommie Lynn Krousel. Special friends include Barbara Cook, his longtime friend, confidante and executive assistant, and Michelle Bergeron Youngblood. Pallbearers will be T. A. "Tim" Barfield, Jr., David Phillips, Bobby Hatcher, Karl Erich Krousel, Jr., Jake Alexander Krousel, John McLindon, Doug Schexnayder, and John Paul Luckett. Honorary pallbearers will be Shea Landry, David Treppendahl, and John Waitz. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, February 5, 2016 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church (2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70808) from 9:30 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Academy or Gardere Community Christian School.
