A retired Baton Rouge police captain with 31"° years of service and a resident of Pride, he went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011. He was 70 years of age, a U.S. Army veteran and a native of Spring Creek. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Hazel Pat Wilson; and two sons, Karl Wayne Wilson Jr. and wife Theresa, and Keith Michael Wilson and Heidi Wilson. He was the loving "Paw Paw" of his four grandchildren, Kelli, Taylor, Tyler and Kaci Wilson. He is also survived by a sister, Iva Jewel Jasmin; two brothers, Horace Wilson and Ralph Wilson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lettie Crawford Wilson; and three brothers, Bill, James and Johnnie Wilson. Visitation was held at Lake St. John Baptist Church, Ferriday, on Friday, Nov. 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes on Monday, Nov. 7, at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Burial in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Troy Wilson, Randy Wilson, Sonny Hendon, Brent Dunnington, Keith Bankston and Warren Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren. He was pastor of Lake St. John Baptist Church, Ferriday, and a member of Fraternal Order of Police.
