
She passed away in Houstonon Friday, Dec. 29, 2006. Born in St. Francisville in 1924, she moved to Baton Rougeas a young child and remained a longtime resident of theWestdaleHeightsarea until the end of 2002, when illness prompted a move to Houstonto be closer to immediate family. Katherine was an honor graduate of both St. Joseph's Academy and LSU, with a bachelor's degree in commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Row Morris and Jesse H. Morris; brother, Jesse H. MorrisJr.; and her husband of almost 50 years, Sidney A. Champagne. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Jackie Champagne of Magnolia, Texas; granddaughters, Kristen and Katie Champagne of College Station, Texas; nieces, Alice Morris of Miami and Kathy Reddin of Plano, Texas; nephews, Jesse Morris of Katy, Texas, Charlie Morris of Austin, Texas, and Tommy Morris of Panama. Katherine loved her family and friends, missed Baton Rouge, enjoyed LSU football and the associated tailgating activities, took delight in a good bridge game, dined with enthusiasm at Giamanco's and defined the state of the art in grandparenting. She will be greatly missed. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 10 a.m.Family visitation will be held one hour before Mass. Interment will immediately follow atRoselawnMemorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff of St. James Place, Park Place/Summerville, Park Manor and Lighthouse Hospice for the care and respect shown Mrs. Champagneduring the last 5 1/2 years.
