Katherine Silvio "Kat" Gravatt

Katherine Silvio Gravatt went to be with The Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at the age of 71. Katherine was an administration assistant at DOW chemical for 12 years. A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Katherine is survived by her daughter, April Reed Smith and husband Allen of Tennessee; son, David Reed III “Trey” of Baton Rouge; daughter-in-laws, Jamie Glass of Texas and Christy Reed of Baton Rouge; sisters, Theresa Rinker and Marie Maranto; brother, Joseph Silvio and spouse Connie; grandchildren, Hunter, Kaitlyn, and Tyler Smith of Tennessee, Austin Reed of Baton Rouge, and Daniel, Emily, Andrew, and Grayson Glass of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Marshall Gravatt; parents, John and Rosie Silvio; and brothers, Victor, Lucas, J.V., and John Jr. Silvio. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, La. 70815, from 5pm until 9pm with the rosary beginning at 7pm being led by Immaculate Conception Bereavement Committee. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave. Baton Rouge, La. 70806 at 1pm and will be conducted by Rev. Cleo Milano. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Arthur Gibbs, Paul Bordelon, Bobby DeArmond, Rickey Marshall, Carlin Silvio, and Mike Gibbs. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice for all of love and support during Katherine’s final days.
