Kathy was born on October 31, 1962 in Shreveport, Louisiana to James and Cynthia Dawkins Moore. Kathy was a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was gentle and kind to all, authentic and accepting, and made new friends easily thanks to her legendary “stranger skills.” She is greatly missed by her family and friends.
Kathy will be remembered for her gentle demeanor, love of children, affection for animals (particularly rescue dogs), attentive listening skills, prolific memory, good manners, and a knack for putting others at ease. Her positive attitude gave her strength through difficulty, and she blessed those special to her with the gift of true friendship.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Cynthia. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Stephen V. Hayes; two children, Ashley (Etienne) Carriere and Michael Hayes; grandson, Etienne Jean-Olivier Carriere; father, James (Adriene) Moore; sister, Leslie (Joey) Noto; and brothers Randy (Cheryl) Moore and Kevin (Nicole) Moore.
In 2010, while living in Slidell, Louisiana, Kathy invited Cynthia Corbett and her daughter Shelbie to move into the Hayes home. Kathy and Cynthia’s friendship quickly developed into a loving mother-daughter relationship and Shelbie became a granddaughter to Kathy and Steve. A few years later, Cynthia married, and Kathy and Steve’s family was extended. As a result, Kathy is also survived by daughter Cynthia (Roger) McCracking and four granddaughters, Shelbie, Ella, Gracie and Breanna McCracking.
A visitation and funeral service will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge.
