

Kathryn Estelle Hannaman McDonald passed away on December 1, 2013, at the age of 95. She was born on April 23, 1918, in Woodville, Mississippi, and has been a resident of Baton Rouge for 95 years. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy McDonald Finnerman and her spouse Dennis of Pasadena, California and her son, the Honorable Judge J. Michael McDonald and his spouse Memrie. She is also survived by six grand children: Charles Taylor McDonald and his spouse Nancy, Rebecca McDonald Maher and her spouse Stephen, Daniel M. McDonald and his spouse Jessica, Kathryn Johnston Adams Sweet and her spouse The Rev. John Sweet, Laurie Johnston Adams Nintcheff and her spouse Andre', Austin P. Adams and his spouse Tiffany, 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Arthur J. Hannaman, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband Daniel M. McDonald to whom she was married for almost 71 years, her parents Arthur J. Hannaman and Estelle Metzger Hannaman, brothers Clifford Hannaman, Delma Hannaman, Robert Hannaman, and son-in-law Capt. Mickey L. Johnston (USAF). She attended Convention Street Elementary School, Baton Rouge Junior High School, and graduated from Baton Rouge Senior High School and Louisiana State University. She was a walking history of Baton Rouge families. She worked as the administrative assistant to Dr. Cecil Chopin in the L.S.U. Chemistry Department. She then worked as the quintessential homemaker as a Bluebird leader, Cub Scout leader, room mother, and PTA volunteer. She was the ideal grandmother with a treasure trove of treats in her pantry. A special thanks to her devoted friends Susan and Dr. Prentiss Smith, Lynn Graner, Prof. Jesse and Rita Walker, and Margaret Kingrea. Funeral services will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, La. on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
