Katie Lee Higgins Dutsch went home to be with her Lord and Savior and be reunited with her husband and only child on Monday, March 14, 2016 at the age of 86. A native of Baton Rouge and longtime resident of St. Francisville, she worked as an LPN in the pediatric practice for Dr’s Heitman and Feldman until her retirement. She was a charter member of Oakcrest Baptist Church and longtime member of First Baptist Church, St. Francisville. She will be remembered by many as a woman who faced many different challenges in her life, but always met each obstacle with a “can do” spirit, managing to find joy in her journey here on earth. Her legacy to us is one of faith, love, and strength which we will carry in our hearts forever. She is survived by her brother the Reverend Dr. George L. Higgins II and wife, Earline; Daugher-in Law, Sandra Walker Dutsch, three grandchildren, Paul Spencer and wife, Jacqueline, James “Jimmy” and wife Dana and Lynette Dutsch; nephew George L. Higgins III and wife Cindy; six great grandchildren, Justice ,Bethany, Aaron, Jeremiah, Natalie, and Chandler and a multitude of beloved family members who love and will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Paul Marion her son, George “Ricky” Dutsch, and brother Ivy Charles “Bill” Higgins. She was the daughter of George L. and Nannie Higgins. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday, March 18, 2016 beginning at 9:00AM until services at noon officiated by Rev. Joel Williams. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Memorial gifts may be made in her honor to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
