

Kay Cunningham Tisdale, 77, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015. A native of Atmore, Alabama, Kay was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, where she shared her creative gifts as a local music teacher and educator. She was an active member and former President of the Baton Rouge Music Teachers Association, and served with the Louisiana Federation of Music Clubs. Kay was a true spunky Southern Belle who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Mississippi Southern College (now U.S.M.) in 1959, where she was both a Dixie Darling majorette and a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She is survived by her loving family - husband, L. Brooks Tisdale, daughters Kathy L. Tisdale, Karen T. Bach, Kristi B. Tisdale, and granddaughter Ashley Tuminello. She is preceded in death by her father Kimbrell Cunningham, mother Mildred S. McCoy and stepfather W.D. McCoy. Kay was gracious and kind, always putting others before herself. Memorial services will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, Monday, August 31, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mt. Pleasant Zachary Rd, Zachary, LA 70791.
