

A loving husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the age of 85. He retired from the East Baton Rouge School Board after 30 years as the Supervisor of Child Welfare. He served four years in the US Air Force and was a Justice of the Peace for many years. He loved to garden and dance and loved sports. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church for many years until 3 years ago when he moved to First Baptist Church of Zachary. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary Brown Kirkpatrick; six children, Alison Gardner and husband Craig, Karla Kirkpatrick, Michael Kirkpatrick and wife Dana, Mary Jo Guedon and husband Bob, Paula Smith and husband Rocky, and Ricky Brown and wife Donna; 13 grandchildren, Codi Farist, Kelli Kirkpatrick, Grant Gardner, Alex Kirkpatrick, Tyler Gardner, Maggie Gardner, Emily Keating, Natalie Segrest, Joseph Guedon, Angela Robinson, Kristen McGraw, Dana Sanchez, and Jason Brown; 18 great grandchildren, Ryan Jo Farist, Lindsey, Halle, and Jack Peterman, Caleb, Eden, Lily Grace, and Luke Robinson, Hollis and Emery McGraw, Brooke and Griffin Segrest, Brady and Bryson Sanchez, and Walker Brown, sisters, Dottie Morris, and Sybil Lahtela; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beryl Cox Kirkpatrick; and brothers, Robert Kirkpatrick and Tommy Kirkpatrick. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday April 23, 2015 from 5 PM until 7 PM and will resume on Friday April 24, 2015 from 9 AM until funeral service at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to thank New Century Hospice especially Brandi, Mel, and Roxanne, and his loving caregivers for their love and support throughout this difficult time.
