

"Kirby James Edwards, a native of Bay City, TX and a resident of Zachary, LA, passed away on December 21, 2018 at the age of 72. Kirby served in the Air Force prior to attending Nicholls State University where he met his wife, Nita. He worked at Bell South Telecommunications (later called AT&T) as a service technician and internet installer where he continued to work for 30 years until his retirement. Kirby loved cooking and entertaining for his friends and family. He also participated in a variety of community organizations over the years, including volunteering as a coach for his children's ball teams and other youth activities, and volunteering as a Lion's Club member. Kirby was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his friends and his two children. He is survived by his wife, Nita Carney Edwards of Zachary; daughter, Lesley Edwards Anderson and her husband Timothy Anderson, son, Kirby Bowman Edwards and his girlfriend Marie Wintz of Slaughter, LA; one grandson, Ty Graham Anderson of Denver, Colorado; sister, Anna Belle Theriot of Houma, LA; nieces and nephew, Dwayne Theriot of Boston, MA, Heidi Roby of Houma, and Sheila Arnondin of New Orleans, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Grantham and Ive Edwards; and brother, Bootsey Edwards. Interment and military honors will be on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Port Hudson National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to the Edwards' home after the service to enjoy food and celebrate Kirby's life. Kirby and his family would like to thank the Hospice of Baton Rouge, his primary hospice nurse, Charmaine, and the CNA Staff.
