

Larry Edward Grantham passed away peacefully at 6:50 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was 60 years old, native of Port Allen, and resident of Prairieville. He was a 1973 graduate of Episcopal High School and a 1978 LSU Graduate. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He retired after 36 years of teaching and coaching in East Baton Rouge Parish. He was head basketball coach at Tara High School for 26 years. His 1995 basketball team placed as runner up in State and he went on to coach the 1995 La. High School All-Star Team. Same year, the team won the Bob Petit/ EBR tournament. The team won district titles in 1995 and 2001. They won the EBR tourney title in 2001. Trojans were runner ups in 2003 and 2004. Larry was honored as the District Coach of the year in 1995 and 2001. He was a former 1998 royal Krewe of Romany King. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Jerisse Bolton Grantham; his son, Grant Samuel Grantham; mother, Exine Weems Grantham; sister, Toni Grantham Hix and husband Jerry Hix of New Roads; brother-in-laws, Jeff Bolton and wife Anne and Johnny Bolton and wife Ann; nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Shelley, and Lacie Hix and Graham, Scott and John Bolton and Blaire Braud. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Eldridge Grantham. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, La, on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5pm-9pm and will resume on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11am until funeral service at 12pm. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Jerry Hix, Jeremy Hix, Jeff Bolton, Joe Kirk, Robert Hamilton, and Johnny Bolton. Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Thornton, Coaches Kenny Almond, David Corona, Larry Grayson, Keith Altazin, Mike Banks, and Barry Jackson.
