
Larry Thomasson McKinstry MD, born May 7, 1937, a native of Monticello, AR and a resident of Wakefield, LA passed away on June 8, 2012 in Baton Rouge at the age of 75. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served as captain with the 1st Airborne Unit during Vietnam. Larry graduated from Bastrop High School in 1955, and he was an alumnus of Centenary College and LSU Medical School. He was a retired doctor of physiatry who worked at the VA Center Gulfport-Biloxi, LSU Medical Center in New Orleans as a professor, Worked for Veteran Affairs in Washington DC, Roosevelt Rehabilitation Center in Warmsprings, Georgia, Rotary Rehabilitation Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, Mobile Infirmary, and JACHO. Larry was an active member of Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, LA and was a loving brother, uncle, and great uncle who will be missed dearly by all that knew him. He is survived by his sister, Mary Kaye McKinstry Flint and husband Simual “Bo” Flint; sister-in-law, Judy McKinstry Morgan; nieces, Renae Flint Kjar, Michelle McKinstry Park, and Deborah Flint; nephews, Michael McKinstry and Alan Flint; great nieces, Shellie Robert and Faith McKinstry; and great nephews, Michael Flint, Cody Flint, Jason Robert, Ryan Flint, Zane Park, and Zack Park. He is preceded in death by his father, Olin T. McKinstry; his mother, Vera Davis Mckinstry; brother, Ralph L. Mckinstry; and great nephew Lance Robert. A graveside service and interment will take place in Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop, LA on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 2pm.
