An accomplished and widely respected member of the Baton Rouge legal community, Lawrence Dodd dedicated more than fifty years to the practice of law. His legal journey began at the Louisiana State University Law Center, where his academic excellence earned him a position as Associate Editor of the Louisiana Law Review. While still a law student he achieved the rare distinction of being published in the Louisiana Law Review twice. Admitted to the Louisiana bar in 1973, Lawrence established a practice in East Baton Rouge Parish specializing in real estate, creditors' rights, and civil litigation.
He is survived by his children Bruce W. Dodd (Ellen), C. Layne Dodd (Virginia), Alexandra Dodd, and David Fleischbein (Andrea) and by nine grandchildren: Meghan Michelle, Andye Vantol, Chandler Layne, Jr, Whitney Anne, Sydney Trainor, Graham Trainor, Ethan Alexander, Carson Drake, and Dylan Fleischbein. He was predeceased by his son Laurence Scott Dodd, his mother Annie Ruth Dodd, and his father, Sylvester Abner Dodd.
He will be remembered with respect and affection by all who knew him, and his family takes comfort in the enduring legacy he leaves behind. His devotion to his two West Highland Terriers, who were his constant companions in later years, brought him great joy and will remain a cherished part of his memory.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. 70815, on Friday, May 29th from 2:00-5:00pm.
