Lawrence Janet Drury

Mrs. Drury died Sunday morning, Jan. 14, 2007, after a long struggle with leukemia and Alzheimer's disease. She was born to Lawrence and Sadie Wright Welch on Nov. 7, 1922, in West Feliciana Parish. She graduated fromMcKowenHigh Schoolin Jacksonand attended LSU and theUniversityofTennessee-Chattanooga. She was an executive secretary at Ethyl Corp., having retired after 28 years of service. Mrs. Drury is survived by her husband, Joe L. Drury; sister, Annie Murl Gonzales; nephew, Frank Mitch Gonzales and wife Susan; a niece, Marlene Gonzales; great-nephew, Robert L. Gonzales; two great-nieces, Kristen A. Gonzales and Michelle G. Jeansonne and husband Kyle; a great-great-niece, Annie Melissa Gonzales; and friends Margaret Sternberger, Emily G. McCarrol and Sharon Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mary Katherine Welch; a nephew, Robert Lawrence Gonzales; a niece, Christy Gonzales; and brother-in-law, Robert Gonzales. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Jan. 16, was from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m.Visiting resumes at the funeral home Wednesday from 8:30 a.m.until religious service at 10 am. Private interment will be at a later date in the family cemetery in West Feliciana Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge or Hospice of Baton Rouge.
