
A retired mechanical engineer and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 11:16 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center due to complications from a short illness. He was 77 and U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served from 1950 to 1955. Religious service at VFW, 13214 S. Choctaw Drive, on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m., conducted by family. He is survived by his wife, Maybrey Elizabeth Strahan; a daughter, Lari Elizabeth Strahan, of Baton Rouge; two sons, Clarence Edwin Strahan, of Harrisburg, N.C., and Robert Frederick Strahan, of Bristol, Tenn.; six sisters, Violet "Shirley" Bliss, of Jackson, Miss., Bobbie Whittle, of Bradford, Ill., Vicky Laird, of McCall Creek, Miss., Regina Tucker, of Byram, Miss., Freda Bryant, of Melrose, Fla., and Patsy Wyatt, of Melbourne, Fla.; three brothers, George Edward Strahan, of McCall Creek, Lonnie Strahan, of Natchez, Miss., and Don Still, of Meridian, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Erika A. Strahan and Robert O. Cosby, both of Baton Rouge, Benjamin D. Strahan, Ashley D. Strahan and Candise D. Mallette, all of Bristol, and Allison L. Strahan and Brian L. Strahan, both of Harrisburg; and two great-grandchildren, Alex Edwin Mallette, of Bristol, and Nicholas Bryson Cosby, of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his father, Lonzo Lawrence Strahan; mother, Maude Leo Sanders; and a brother O.F. Still Jr. He attended Louisiana Tech University. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians. He was also a beekeeper. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., is in charge of arrangements.
