Layne Blakeney Pollard

Layne Blakeney Pollard, age 30, daughter of Donald R. Pollard and Nancy Blakeney Pollard, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, in Dallas, Texas. She was a commercial realtor with Harvard Companies Inc. in Dallas. Layne was educated in Baton Rouge and a 2003 graduate from Arlington Preparatory Academy. She followed her love of learning to many places but was most at home at LSU. Layne was active in the Dallas LSU Alumni Association. She will be missed by a host of friends she made throughout all of her adventures. She was an avid cyclist and runner as well as a NPC fitness competitor. Her infectious smile and bubbly personality was her trademark in life. Layne was truly a free spirit and never knew the impact she made on everyone she met. In Layne's true fashion, each of us should be smiling rather than crying. Layne is survived by her parents Donald R. Pollard (Marilyn) of Orange Beach, AL; Nancy B. Pollard of Baton Rouge; sisters Lauryn P. Walker (Jim) of Birmingham, AL and Amanda P. Filipowski (Shane) of Enterprise, AL; her favorite nephew and niece Harrison Pollard Walker and Eloise Catherine Walker of Birmingham, AL; the Love of her life Philip R. Macha of McKinney, TX; aunts Brenda B. Slay (Von) of Crystal Springs, MS, Emma Jo Achimon (Louis) and Margaret Pollard of Tallassee, AL; special grandmother Elaine H. Parker and special friend Sherri L. Parker of Denham Springs; and her beloved dog Trudy otherwise known as "Pooter". Layne is at peace now. Awaiting her arrival are her maternal grandparents Myrtle and T.E. (Doc) Blakeney; paternal grandparents Bennie Frank Pollard and Myrtle Pollard Darnell, and special grandfather John M. Parker; aunts Carolyn B. Harbour and Eubie P. Smith; and uncles Houston Pollard, Lawson Smith, and Thomas W. Pollard. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) at 10:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 11:30 AM officiated by Brother Mike Abbott. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Layne's name to the Humane Society of Dallas County.
