She was a faithful and lifelong member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a pillar of the community of Central. Lee was a driving force in numerous organizations, charitable events, community activities and her church. She was one of the founding members of the Incorporation of Central in 2005, being one of the signatures on the corporation documents. She was active in the original Central Area Business Association which became the Central Chamber of Commerce. Lee "Sullivan" Rome was one of the original Sullivan's where Sullivan Road got its name. She and her father opened the original Sullivan's Hardware Store in the late 1950's and managed it until the mid-90's when it was sold. After selling the hardware store, she became a Realtor Broker opening her own Brokerage called Acadian Real Estate Sales and Services, LLC. She sold Real Estate until she was 87 years old.
Lee was a pillar of the community, very civic minded and one of the kindest people you would ever meet. Many people called her the “unofficial Mayor” of Central, a title that was proudly shared. She will be truly missed by family, friends and the entire Central Community.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to her caretakers Donna Robinson, Claudette Harris, and Sheila Coleman who treated her like a princess. Also, thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice -Carpenter House and Trigg who helped us through her final moments. Donations may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, and Central School System in her name.
