Leila Harb, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospice/Carpenter House, at the age of 91. Leila was born in Haifa, Palestine on March 16, 1930. She lived in Lebanon and Kuwait, and then settled in Baton Rouge in 1990. Lovingly known as Tetta or Taunt Leila to many, her deep faith, loving heart, gentle presence, and warm hospitality shined bright. Leila lived a simple life. She loved cooking for her family and friends. She was happiest when she had everyone around her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Leila’s Rosary was never far from her hands. She loved saying her Rosary and attending Mass. She loved being outdoors, doing search-a-word puzzles, cooking, crawfish, reading and cross-stitching. Leila was a strong lady and endured much in her life. She never drove a car, but could tell you how to get anywhere. She was happy, quiet, kind and deeply faithful. Leila is survived by her sons: Fadi Harb (Nahed) of Toronto, Canada and Bassam Harb (Deanna “Dee”) of Baton Rouge, LA; and her daughter, Feirouz (Fay) Edwards of Baton Rouge, LA. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Emily Harb and fiancé Alex Tyl, Ryan Harb and fiancé Courtney Musso, Rachel Edwards, all of Baton Rouge, and Lara Harb of Toronto, Canada; sister-in-law, Hoda Khoury; five nieces: Rosy, Rania, Amal, Dareen, and Bertha Khoury; and two nephews: Yousef and George Khoury. She is preceded in death by her husband, Toufic Harb; four brothers: Issa Khoury (Abla), Maurice Khoury, Gerius Khoury (Ferial), and Berto Khoury; her parents, Yousef and Feirouz Khoury; and her step-mother, Rose Hayek Khoury. Visitation will be on Monday, January 31, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane in Baton Rouge, from 11:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at Noon, celebrated by Father Alex Harb. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory on Jefferson Hwy. Serving as Pallbearers will be Bassam, Fadi, and Ryan Harb, and Alex Tyl. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph Hospice/Carpenter House. The dedication, love and support you gave to Leila was a true blessing. We would also like to thank all of her doctors and their staffs, who cared for her so carefully over the years. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Leila’s name. St. Jude’s always had a special place in Leila’s heart. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whosoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” John 11:25
