

Lela was born on March 10, 1919 in Covington. She died at 1:35am Friday, October 25, 2013, at St. Clare Manor in Baton Rouge. She was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. Jackie was a former Registrar at Catholic High School, and also managed Sherwood Duplexes and Garden Homes. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Quota Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Baton Rouge Genealogical Society, and the Sherwood Forest Garden Club. Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Joseph Watkins, Jr., her parents, Mr.&Mrs. William Albert Cuny, and a brother, William Albert Cuny, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Inda Watkins Williamson; and a son, Frederick Joseph Watkins, Jr.&wife Sharon Mullins Watkins of Atlanta, Georgia; and six grandchildren, Ashley Williamson Parkinson, Laure Williamson, Frederick Joseph Watkins, III, Michelle Lynn Watkins, Alice Watkins Vansant, and Amy Watkins Jones; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 5:00pm to 8:00pm Monday. Visitation will resume Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 10:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Duhe'. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Jackie was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was kind to everyone she met and never met a stranger.
