John was a retired accountant from Westlake Chemical, proud alumni of Southeastern Louisiana University, avid golfer, and lifelong LSU fan who was known for his strength, loyalty, and unwavering sense of honor. He stood firmly by his beliefs and carried himself with honesty, integrity, and pride throughout his life.
More than anything, John believed in family — not simply the family you are born into, but the family you choose through love, loyalty, and presence. He believed life was not defined by where you came from, but by what you chose to make of it and the people you chose to share it with.
His greatest pride and joy was his son, Brendan, who meant the world to him. John loved Brendan unconditionally, and there was never a doubt how deeply proud he was to be his father. The bond they shared was built on loyalty, admiration, and lifelong friendship. To Brendan, he was more than a father — he was a best friend. John also shared a special bond with Brooke Motichek and Emerson, who became cherished parts of his life and the family he built through love.
He is survived by his son, Brendan King; Gina Champagne; Brooke Motichek and Emerson; along with many friends and loved ones whose lives were better because of him.
He was a good, honest, and just man who stood ten toes down on every bit of business he held and every belief he carried. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. His family, both by blood and by choice, will continue to live in and for his legacy.
Visitation services for John will be held on May 30, 2026, from 12:00pm. to 2:00pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815. Burial services will immediately follow.
Gone, but never forgotten.
