He was a graduate of McKinley Sr. High School and Grambling State University. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Leo was an educator and a program advisor for the LA Department of Labor. He enjoyed all sports and traveling. Leo is survived by his wife of 32 years, Juanita Turner; children, Tammy T. Turner and Leo Terrell Turner; stepsons, Todd Banks and Troy Banks; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Willie Jean Turner; sisters-in-law, Lorina Turner and Anna Turner; and special cousins, Marvel Hughes and Viola Tillotson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Leo is preceded in death by parents, William Turner, Sr. and Martha Dunbar; sister, Laurel Jean Holder; brother, William “Tex” Turner. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette St., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, July 7, 2023, from 9am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
