A retired assistant department manager at J.C. Penneys with 25 years of service and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 10:25 pm. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Denham Springs. She was 86 and a native of New Orleans. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Aug. 18, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Bill Brewer. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by six sons, Harry B. Abbott Jr. and wife Patricia, John M. Abbott and wife Kathy, Roger S. Abbott and wife Sallie, Richard M. Abbott and wife Joan, Warren T. Abbott and Brian W. Abbott and wife Jackie; 15 grandchildren, Brent Abbott, Bonnie Caldwell, James Abbott, Melanie Abbott, Loie Abbott, Christina Holton, Stephenie Abbott, David Abbott, Lee Abbott, Sylvia Storz, Elizabeth Abbott, Jeremy Abbott, April Spiers, Amy Gray and Matthew Abbott; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry B. Abbott Sr.; father, Thorne Dibrel Harris; mother, Loie Rita Martin Harris; and brother, Thorne Dibrel Harris Jr. Pallbearers will be her sons, Harry, John, Roger, Richard, Warren and Brian. Honorary pallbearers are James Abbott, Brent Abbott, David Abbott, Lee Abbott, Jeremy Abbott, Henry Holton, Jason Spiers and Jerry Gray. She attended LSU and was PTA president at Bernard Terrace Elementary for more than 10 years. The family would like to thank everyone at Odyssey Hospice Care of Baton Rouge, who took such good care of our mother, especially, Amy, Kathy, Mary and Darryl. Thanks to everyone at Golden Age Nursing Home for the love, care and concern given to both of our parents.
