

A longtime resident of Baton Rouge passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Ollie Steele Burden with her daughters by her side. She was the wife of the late Aldrich Matherne and daughter of her deceased parents, Walter D and Rosa Lee Shelton. She was born in Denham Springs on November 22, 1923. She is survived by her two daughters, Norma Kaye Matherne of Baton Rouge and Sandra Matherne Salins of Delray Beach, Florida. In addition, she leaves two grandchildren, Mary Gulick Tucker and husband Phillip of The Woodlands, Texas and David James Gulick of Nashville, TN; two great grandchildren, Sean and James Tucker. Lois is preceded in death by her siblings, Essie Mildred Shelton, Iris Shelton Ritter, Barney Lawson Shelton and Merle Minton Shelton. She was a member of St Jude Catholic Church. During her life she was an officer in the American Legion Auxiliary, Nicholson Post No. 38 and was a past officer in Amvets and 8&40 organizations. In the past years, she worked with several local doctors and was a meticulous records keeper and homemaker. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. May she rest in peace. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 24. 2012 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd from 10 am till service time at 12pm. Burial will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
