Louis L. Gurka

Gurka, III., Louis LeonLouis L. Gurka, III a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the age of 55.  Louis was a hardworking man, a loving father and grandfather, and loved to go fishing.  Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 1000 Florida Blvd on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 9:00 AM until funeral services in the chapel at 12 noon.  To honor Louis, the family is requesting casual attire for the visitation and funeral.  Louis is survived by his wife, Tracey Shaffett; three children, two daughters and a son,  Brandy and Kevin Wiggins and Laura and David Babin;  Louis Leon Gurka, IV; three stepchildren, Phil Shaffett, Brandon Story, and Jennifer Story; ten grandchildren, Madeline W., Dylan, Morgan, Audrey, Matt, Madelyn S., Byron, Owen, Jaylah, and Takara.  He is also survived by three sisters, Mary Willie, Linda Dupuy, and Debbie Murray.   Preceded in death by his parents Louis Leon Gurka, Jr. and Mary E. Gurka Williams.  He was a man of many words, never a dull moment with him around, hard headed, had a green thumb, determined to find a solution to any problem, had many skills and no job was too big or too small and was loved by all who knew him.  "No cheese and no pickles" And as you always said, "Quenos Noches".
