

Loyd was born in Holly Ridge, LA and married Carol Lester Crain. He began his career as a proof reader, moving to linotypist and then to associate director of LSU Graphic Services before retirement. He could fix anything and solve any problem. He spent his life caring for others. He and Carol took care of their parents, children, siblings, neighbors, and friends during hard times and illness.
He loved fishing and enjoyed living on Caney Lake. He also loved baseball, especially Little League World Series. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended every competition he could. He taught them to do the right thing and not cut corners. They knew he cared deeply for them without a lot of discussion.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Lester Crain; daughter, Christie Crain Rockco (Stephen); grandchildren, Stephanie Rockco, Andrew Rockco (Katie), Kristonnie Crain Law, Brantlye Crain (Hanna Tullos); great-grandchildren, Gabe Law, Piper Law, Amelia Rockco, Caroline Rockco, Harper Crain, Hanley Crain, and brother Max Crain (Louise).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Mary Lee Crain; siblings, Lavelle Crain (Pauline), and Patsy Crain McDonald (Richard); son, Andy Crain; daughter, Amy Crain.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at First Pentecostal Church from 4-6pm with service begin at 6pm. Burial will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 at 12 pm.
The family extends special thanks to staff at The Claiborne at Shoe Creek, and Bridgeway Hospice for his care during his brief illness.
