A loving wife and mother, she was 87 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. She died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid-City. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday, July 21, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. Interment in Prairieville Cemetery. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Cooper, of Morgan City, and Winslyn Hano, of Baton Rouge; a son, Edward Ruiz III, of Baton Rouge; a sister, Beverly Simpson, of Gonzales; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her husband, Edward W. Ruiz Jr.; parents, two brothers and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church. >
