Lucy H. Atkins, a native of Middleburg, N.C. and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away at the age of 86 on Friday, May 30, 2014. She worked for Ethyl Corporation from where she eventually retired. She loved gardening, was active in her church, St. John’s United Methodist Church, enjoyed knitting, exercising, and cooking. She is survived by her children, a son, H. Graham Atkins and wife, Debbie; and daughter, Margaret Ruffin and husband, Jay; grandchildren, Natalie Atkins, Melissa Hanks and husband, Barrett; and Kimberly Flowers and husband, Austin; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Rory, Katie, and Hudson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guss H. Atkins. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Healthcare Center in Lafayette for their kindness and excellent care. Visitation will be on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
