
Luella McNally Newsom passed away peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Southside Gardens after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she was born on August 26, 1925 in Barnes County, North Dakota to Francis Roberts McNally and Clara Koch McNally. She lived a full and rewarding 88 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Dr. Donald Wilson Newsom. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn N. Morgan and husband James Davis Morgan of Afton, VA and Donna N. Boé and husband Brent James Boé of Baton Rouge. Her four grandchildren include Amanda Kathryn Morgan and wife Karen Elizabeth Munro of Portland, OR; James Wilson Morgan and wife Chloe Dorothea Morgan of Brooklyn, NY; Caitlin Boé Stolzenthaler and husband Kyle Richard Stolzenthaler of Baton Rouge and Tinsley Boé Somers and husband David Wayne Somers II of Holly Springs, NC. She also had three great grandchildren: Crawford Wilson Stolzenthaler, Jane Clare Roberts Stolzenthaler and Goldie Catherine Laurel Morgan. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys McNally Walcker of Hopkins, MN and many other loving relatives and friends. She encouraged and inspired her family by example and touched many lives with her kind words, welcoming heart, quick wit and beautiful smile. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife and loving mother and missed by all who knew and loved her. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care and kindness given to her by her caregivers "“ Shun Scott, Mildred King, Joi Farr and Ivory Whitmore and the nurses at Clarity Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luella's name to the LSU College of Agriculture, Donald Newsom Gardens or the National Parkinson Foundation. There will be a family graveside service, Saturday, May 3rd followed by a celebration of her life for family and friends at 12:30 at the home of her daughter and son in law.
