Lynda Jo LaPlace, 68 of Denham Springs, Louisiana, died peacefully at Center Point Healthcare of Baton Rouge, LA., on September 7, 2022. Lynda was born to Eugene F. Walczak and Elizabeth (Bette) Walczak (Tepp) in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. She attended St. Josephs Catholic grade school and graduated from PJ Jacobs High School a semester early with straight A’s and left soon after for California. She later obtained her Masters Degree in Social Work from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA and worked as a hospice social worker. The joy of her life came from her daughter, Haila Elizabeth Peters, her grandson Diontré Duke, and her husband, Aubrey (AJ) LaPlace Jr. Lynda and AJ married in 2011 and resided in Denham Springs, LA. Lynda battled with ovarian cancer and complications during the last few years of her life and was aided and supported by her loving husband AJ. In Lynda’s younger years she was gifted with athleticism, sailing skills, sculpting, and artistic talent. Lynda will be remembered for her great smile, incredible spirit, courage in adversity, generosity, and perseverance. Lynda had a great sense of humor, she could tell a joke “with the best of them” and have everyone rolling in laughter. She was often referred to as “a force of nature”. She had a deep devotion to Jesus Christ instilled by her Catholic upbringing, and became an active member of Bethany Church in her later years. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene, brothers, Morgan and Eugene P. and her beloved daughter, Haila. Survivors include her husband AJ LaPlace Jr., grandson, Diontré, mother, Bette, sisters, Luanna Durham, Lorelei Walczak (Don Wiza), brothers, Mitchel Walczak, Dean & Daniel Shibilski, stepson John LaPlace, and pets, Cheeky and Cortez. Services will be held at Bethany Church in Livingston Parish on Monday September 19th at 7pm and at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Wednesday September 21st, with visitation from 9am until the start of mass at 11am. The family wishes to thank Home Instead and St. Joseph Hospice for their kind and professional care during her last days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
