Lynda Lewis Van Kerkhove, born February 27, 1937, in Newgulf, TX, passed peacefully on December 7, 2021, in Baton Rouge, LA, surrounded by family. As a child she moved around Louisiana with her family, as her father was a Baptist missionary minister, who began churches in rural areas. She graduated from Ruston High School in 1954, where she played varsity basketball and softball. Following her graduation from Ruston High School she attended Louisiana College, graduating in 1958. She loved watching the Lady Tigers’ basketball games, LSU football games, and she loved her family fiercely. Throughout her life, she worked for the Postal Inspector’s office, and as the executive assistant to many pastors. Recently, she retired from Cross Point Baptist Church, at the young age of 81. She spent 20+ years working and serving not only as the pastor’s executive assistant, but also the financial secretary and was a member of Cross Point Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Edward Van Kerkhove, her parents, Rev. & Mrs. W. Z. (Hazel Hall) Lewis, her sister, Mary Oleta Lewis, and dear friends, Mr. & Mrs. Elmore (Faye McKenzie) Hutchinson. She is survived by her son, Paul E. Van Kerkhove, a daughter, Donna Van Kerkhove Jones, son-in-law, Michael E. Jones, grandchildren, Matthew P. (Judith) Van Kerkhove, Laurel O. Maddie, Christine Fraley, Nathalie Hutchinson, and Ashley Hutchinson, great-grandchildren, Colin and Natalie Van Kerkhove, McKinley, Londyn and Amelie Fraley, and Greyson Green, nieces and nephews (honorary children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren) Hal & Melanie Hutchinson, Billy & Robbin Lewis, Trey & Keri, Skyler and Westin Lewis, Brett Lewis, and Zack & Sarah Lewis, and other very loved family members. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by services at 12:00 p.m., at Rabenhorst East, with burial immediately following at Greenoaks Memorial Park, on Monday, December 13, 2021.
