"Lynwood J. Hebert Jr. (Sam) was a native of Baton Rouge, born February 25, 1938. He graduated from Baton Rouge High, and attended LSU and McNeese State University. He also served in the Louisiana National Guard. He worked in banking at Capitol Bank, then Kmart, where he assisted in opening the first Kmart in Baton Rouge, along with other stores across the south. He retired from Kmart as a human resource director. He then spent his last 16 years working for the Baton Rouge General Medical Center until his death. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge. He is survived by: his only sister, Lynda Hebert Piatkiewicz and husband Bob; and two nephews, Robert E. Piatkiewicz Jr, and Daniel S. Piatkiewicz and wife Allison and their children, Ford, Quinn, and Dax. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Lynwood Hebert Sr. and Rose Kuhnert Hebert; and a niece, Dixie Lea Piatkiewicz. A gathering of friends and family will take place at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Downtown (825 Government Street) on Friday, September 22 at 12:00 pm, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm, to be conducted by the Rev. Pattye Hewitt.
