A loving and caring daughter, sister, and aunt, Ms. Mamie Myles Pittman, 85, passed away at her residence in Baton Rouge on February 10, 2011. A native of Mississippi, she graduated Pascagoula High School and attended Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. She retired in management from AT&T after 36 years of service and remained active in Telecom Pioneers. Visitation at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd. in Baton Rouge, Sunday, 2/13/11 from 4pm-7pm. Visitation will continue Monday, 2/14 from 11am until religious service at 2pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Dr. Odell Simmons. She was a long time member of the United Methodist Women and Francis Asbury United Methodist Church where she volunteered as Secretary for many years. She was an avid bowler where she excelled for many years. Mamie is survived by two sisters-in-law, Paula Pittman of Baton Rouge and Elizabeth Pittman Riggs of South Carolina; seven nieces, Connie Cockerham, Lynda Pittman and Lisa Crew of Baton Rouge; Carolyn Bowen of Scooba MS.; Sharon Swinney of Brookeland,TX; Susan Mathis of Lucedale, MS., and Sheila Breaux of Grand Bay, AL.; 3 nephews, Athea E. Pittman of Denham Springs, Richard Pittman of Katy, TX, and Robert S. Pittman of Pascagoula, MS.; and numerous great and great/great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Richard C. and Josie M. Allen Pittman, two sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be Erick Crew, Kyle Cockerham, Dr. Thomas Cockerham, Robert Pittman, Athea Pittman, and Greg Breaux. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to nurses and aides from Amedisys Home Health and St. Joseph Hospice along with her great niece, Melissa Brouilette and her caretaker, Mary Lewis.
