Marc Anthony Coniglio was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on January 12, 1961, to Nell Reta McCrory Coniglio and Philip Joseph Coniglio, Sr. Because he was born later in their lives, any one of his siblings could have been his parent, therefore, they all adored this new addition to the family and cherished him as their own. Marc is survived by his siblings; Bernice York (Gary) of Port Barre, LA, Philip Coniglio, Jr. of MO, and Sidney Coniglio (Joann) of Central, LA. He was uncle to his nephew and nieces and acted as guardian of all. He was 22 months older than his nephew, Wendell Babin, and not more than seven years older than his nieces, Kimberly Coniglio Therriault (Billy), Theresa Coniglio Tisch (Jessie), Michaela York, and Kelli Coniglio; many great and great-great-nephews and nieces, dozens of cousins and one uncle. Marc is also survived by his fiancé, Tammy Kelly, her son, Mikeal, daughter, Brittany, and granddaughter, Alaina, all of whom he loved dearly as his own. Marc is preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Nell Coniglio. Marc was a 1979 graduate of Istrouma High School where he played varsity football. He was employed by EBR City Parish DPW for almost 20 years. Since childhood, Marc loved the outdoors. Bayou Pigeon and Bayou Sorrel were favorite haunts. He enjoyed crabbing and saltwater fishing in the Gulf. The walls of his home attest to his prowess as both deer hunter and bass fisherman. He was a fan of Doug Kershaw and comedian, Jerry Clower. He had an infectious smile and hearty laugh. He was funny, kind, good-hearted and beloved by his family, coworkers, and neighbors. Pallbearers are George Mikeal Kelly, Jr., Andy Brubaker, Shane Nicholas, Ryan Sansone, Garrett Shaffer, Bob Nash, Charles Milne and Michael “Mickey” McCrae. Unbeknown to Marc, the back and shoulder pains he had suffered for many months, was an invasion of cancer throughout his body. A week after diagnosis, the Lord called him home saying, “Well done, my good and faithful servant…Come, share your master’s joy.” Marc departed peacefully from this earthly life on Friday, February 11, 2022. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, from 11:00AM until the time of funeral service at 2:00PM. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marc’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Coastal Conservation Association.
