
Marcheta "Kita" Masters Bailey died on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Lakewood Quarters. She was 79, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Smackover, Ark. She was a graduate of Boyce High School, Alexandria Business College and attended LSU, majoring in business administration. She was a retired administrative assistant in charge of accounting. She was a charter member of the American Society of Women Accountants, past member of the American Business Women's Administration and Beta Omicron Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha where she served two terms as president and state secretary. She enjoyed helping others. She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. In her younger years she was a Sunday school teacher, worked in the church office and sang in the choir and was a Cub Scouts den mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. "Bill" Bailey Jr.; son, Roger D. Bailey; and twin sister, Juanita LaCour. She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Bailey, of Baton Rouge; two brothers, Harvey Masters, of Baton Rouge, and Charles Masters, of Huntsville, Ala.; grandson, David Bailey, of Baltimore; granddaughter, Amy Bailey and husband Todd, of St. Cloud, Fla.; great-granddaughter, Katie Bailey, and great-grandson, Braden Bailey, both of St. Cloud; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, June 5, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes on Friday, June 6, from 9 a.m. until religious service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ken Carroll. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
