

"Margaret Babin Summers died Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at age 89. Family and friends are invited to gather at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 23, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 noon. Originally from Centreville, she was graduated from Louisiana Normal College (Northwestern University) and came to Baton Rouge after WWII to work for Standard Oil (Exxon) where she met and was married to the love of her life for 47 years. She spent most of her time as a housewife, mother, and grandmother, survived by her son, Victor F. Summers III and his wife Sherry of Baton Rouge, her son Patrick J. Summers of Falls Church, Virginia, and Baton Rouge; her granddaughter Ashley Summers Blessing and her husband Adam of Hammond; grandson Mark C. Summers of New Orleans; and six nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Austin and Agnes Babin of Centreville; her husband Victor F. Summers Jr.; and her sisters Lillian Lanclos LaGrange, Laura Babin Foust, and Velma Babin Sullivan Fulk. An avid tennis player, Maggie was dubbed the "Godmother of Tennis" by her many friends with the Baton Rouge Women's Tennis Association. The family wishes to thank her niece, Nancy Foust Marionneaux, and close family friends Bob and Beverly Jones, Gail Engolio, Donna Saurage, and Katie Blunschi for their many years of love, caring, and attention. The family also wishes to thank the excellent staff at Carrington Place Baton Rouge for their care and dedication.
