December 18, 1960 - May 23, 2022 Maria Teresa Granier Stuart, wife of Michael Oliver Stuart, MD and mother of Sophia Maria Stuart, completed her earthly journey on Monday morning, May 23, 2022 after a long and difficult struggle with cancer. She was 61. Terrie was the second born of the union of Ervin Louis Granier Jr of St James Parish and Hilda Castro of Cali, Columbia, her parents having met each other as students at LSU. Terrie's mothering skills developed early in life when her three younger siblings arrived in quick succession. Terrie was an attentive wife and mother. She taught daughter Sophia how to swim at the age of 1 year, and Sophia learned horseback riding at the age of 2 years. Terrie passed on to Sophia her love of learning and sense of optimism. Terrie attended St George Elementary and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1978. She matriculated at LSU and was awarded a BS in Accounting, after which she became a certified public accountant and worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. She was easily the prettiest auditor that ever worked for the IRS. Terrie later attended the University of Mississippi Law School in Oxford, taking the Hammond to Oxford train on weekends to go back and forth from home to school. For quite some time, Terrie immersed herself in scripture, searching for meaning in her struggle with cancer. She was a devoted ambassador for Christ and was ultimately at peace with her fate. Terrie is predeceased by her parents Ervin and Hilda, and she is survived by her older brother Ervin Louis Granier III and younger siblings Chris Marie Gearity (Douglas), Susan Marie Leskanic (Curtis) and Stan Joseph Granier. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 2 at Rabenhorst West on Government Street from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at St George Catholic Church on Seigen Lane. A requiem mass will be held by the Rev Jay Baker starting at noon, followed by entombment at the St George mausoleum.
