Born Dec. 31, 1901, in Ecuador, South America, she died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, in Baton Rouge. She attended school in Ecuador and Peru and subsequently became an arts and crafts teacher in Ecuador. Later, she became postmaster of her small hometown, Balzar, Ecuador. She was married to Carlos Trivino, who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1962. They had no children, but she became a second mother to Luis Orlando Rendon. Lourdes, affectionately known to many as Abi, moved to the United States in November 1964 and was a resident of New Orleans for 41 years. She is survived by her niece, Magdalena Viteri; nephew-in-law, Telmo Viteri; two grandnieces, Maria Viteri and family and Jackie Viteri; grandnephew, Xavier Viteri and family; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; goddaughter, Paulina Martin and family; and Luis Orlando Rendon and family. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Nov. 17, from 4 p.m. until religious service at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where she will be laid to rest near her husband.
