Marie Nations Armstrong

"A retired East Baton Rouge School System teacher having taught at Broadmoor Middle, Baker Middle and Kenilworth Middle, Marie passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at age 72. She also was a seven year volunteer at Magnolia Woods Elementary. She was a native of Monroe County, AL and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home Chapel, 825 Government St, on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 4pm until 8:30pm and again on Monday, June 4, from 10:30am until religious services at 1pm conducted by Rev. Julia Puac-Romero. Graveside services conducted by longtime friend Lester Peavy will be at 11am, Wednesday, June 6, in the Mineola United Methodist Cemetery, Uriah, AL, under the direction of Monroe Chapel Funeral Home. Marie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert D. "Bob" Armstrong; three sons, Daniel "Rob" Armstrong and wife Guess of Cypress, TX, Russell Armstrong and wife Tamara of Lake Jackson, TX, and Bryan Armstrong and wife Heather of Platte City, MO; a brother, Col. Sam O'Gwynn and wife Judy of Monroeville, AL; and five grandchildren, Austin, Kyle, David, Hannah and Ezekiel Armstrong. Marie was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Baton Rouge Food Bank or St. John's United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
