Marie Elizabeth Carpenter"Granny"Starns

Marie was a retired registered nurse, a native of Baker and a resident of Baton Rouge. She was 89. Marie worked at Earl K. Long Hospital in the Emergency Room, with over 30 years of service on the night shift. She died at her daughter's home at 2:16 am Friday, October 16, 2015. Visitation will be held at Blackwater United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 1:30 pm until the religious service at 2:30 pm conducted by the Rev. Laurie Raborn. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Marie is survived by her daughter: Linda Starns Armstrong&husband Lance of Baton Rouge; son: David Starns&wife Ivy of Baton Rouge; grandchildren: Elizabeth Guidry of Baton Rouge, Kevin Starns&wife Whittney of Denham Springs, Kaitlin Starns Watson&husband Todd of Mobile, Alabama; great-grandchildren: Megan Elizabeth Guidry of Plaquemine, Ethan Guidry of Baton Rouge; brother: Lathan Carpenter of Tecumseh, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Leslie Starns; and five sisters and three brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Food Bank of Greater Baton Rouge, The Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, La. or Blackwater United Methodist Church. Rabenhorst Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
