Marie Purcell Parrish

Marie Purcell Parrish, resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on October 11, 2023 at the age of 98. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Purcell Collins; sons, Donald Purcell (Germaine), Randy Purcell (Linda), and Billy Purcell (Robbin); 10 grandchildren, Garrett Dier (Maggie), Bradley Dier (Shannon), Jennifer Corbett (Kendall), Ashley Collins, Sharla Garrison (Zane), Kristen Jones (Trevor), Jana Scanlon (Pat), Heather Purcell, Kasey Shirley (John), Blake Purcell; 21 great-grandchildren, Kelly (Mars), Austin, Jackson, Mayson, Cameron, Trey, Kamryn, Kayden, Kensley, Breanna(Bobby), Kaitlyn, Ryan, Hailey, David, Abby, Megan, Alex, Patrick, Bailey, Myla, and Peyton; 1 great-great grandchild, Browning; sister, Helen Stockwell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; William, Sr. and Hilda Scheel Depew; first husband and father to her children, Clarence James Purcell; second husband, John Parrish; son-in-law, Phil Collins; grandson, Trey Dier; and brothers, Lelsie, Warren, and William Depew Jr.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She enjoyed traveling, reading scripture, praying, and spending time with family and friends. She was the secretary for Winbourne Baptist Church for 14 years before retiring. Marie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 8025 Antioch Rd, from 10 am until funeral service at 11 am.
