Marie Colona Vutera

Born on December 8, 1936, in Hammond, Marie lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and the people she loved so deeply. She was the kind of woman whose strength was quiet but unwavering, whose love was steady and unconditional, and whose presence made others feel safe, seen, and cared for.

Marie was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy, and nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with them. She had a special place in her heart for her great-granddaughter, Milani, whose laughter and innocence filled her with pure delight and pride.

For more than 44 years, Marie dedicated herself to her career as a legal secretary with Duplessis Cadillac. Her remarkable loyalty, work ethic, and integrity were a reflection of the values she carried throughout her life. She was admired not only for her professionalism, but for her kindness and dependability.

A woman of strong faith, Marie was a devoted member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Her faith guided her through life's joys and challenges and was a source of comfort and strength for her and her family.

Marie is survived by her beloved son, Steve Vutera; her grandson, Steven Vutera, Jr., DDS, and his wife, Jacie; and her precious great-granddaughter, Milani Vutera. Her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will live on through them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Vutera; parents, Peter Colona and Jenny Michelle Colona, and her siblings, Nat Colona, Frank Colona, Carmella C. Piazza, and Angie C. LaRocca, all of whom she now joins in eternal peace.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marie's life during visitation on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A Catholic Mass will follow.

Though she will be deeply missed, Marie's legacy of love, faith, and family will remain forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
